April 1991

The lease for the original restaurant was signed on April 12, 1991. It was a previously unimproved 4500 sf end cap lease space in Spring Cypress Village shopping center on the corner of FM 149 and Spring Cypress Rd. in Houston Texas. (FM 149 as eventually designated as State Highway 249).

December 1991

Valley Ranch Grill and Barbeque opened its doors and commenced operations on December 8, 1991. The lease space was improved with the heavy use of wood in the walls, floors, and booths to accomplish a comfortable Southwest Texas theme. The restaurant was designed with an open style kitchen where our customer could visually participate in the preparation of their barbeque or mesquite grilled meals. Interestingly, Valley Ranch was one of the first “non fast food” restaurants to offer a dedicated children’s play area.

August 1995

In mid-1995 Valley Ranch leased available contiguous space and doubled its square footage. The improved 9,000 sf space offered a children’s play area that had tripled in size, additional customer seating and a dedicated banquet room that could seat 75 people for private meetings and events.

April 2006-2008

In early 2006 the Spring Cypress Village shopping center was purchased by the Caldwell Companies real estate development company. Recognizing the popularity of Valley Ranch and the strength of its brand, Caldwell negotiated to construct us a new free standing building during the redevelopment of the shopping center. The new building was constructed to a 90% completeness before it was necessary for the old restaurant to cease operations on March 16, 2008. This closing allowed our old building to be demolished and a new parking lot to be completed. Valley Ranch resumed serving the public in our current building one month later on April 16, 2008.

June 2019

As of June 2019 we are in our 28^th year of being trusted by families of the Northwest Houston / Tomball area to serve consistent high quality barbeque and grilled items from our location at 22548 S.H. 249 on the corner of Spring Cypress Rd.

We serve the finest cuts of meat in Texas. We only use the highest quality meats and grill or BBQ them like we’re in a competition. That’s just how we do things! Our family recipes are served piping hot with a side of savory vegetables or paired with anything of your choice (that’s on the menu).

While you’re taking in the sights, sounds, and aromas during the waiting time, our Southern Texas atmosphere and experienced pitmasters are going to be in the kitchen cooking up a storm.
